Who is authorized to access the PSIT Library?

Access to the library is authorized for all students, faculty members (including visiting faculty), and staff of the Institute.

Is there any separate Library Card issued for using the Library?

No, a separate library card is not issued. The Institute ID card is sufficient for library access and borrowing books.

How do I search Library collection/resources?

The library has an online automated catalogue that can be searched through OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue).

How to I borrow the books?

Go to the library, pick up the books you like to borrow, carry these books to the Circulation Counter. Show your ID Card. The library staff will assist you in getting these books issued to you.

Is it acceptable to borrow books by sending an ID card through another person?

No, the borrower must visit the library in person to have books issued in their own name.

What are the prescribed timings for the issuance and return of library books?

• Working Days: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
• Sunday & Holidays: 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM

How many books can I borrow, and for what duration?

For Macro A/C:

• Students – 6 Books, For 10 Days
• Faculty – 6 Books, For 90 Days
• Staff – 3 Books, For 90 Days

For Micro A/C:

• Books shall be issued at a time for same days only.

Is there fine for late return (over-due) of books

Yes, a member is required to pay late fee, as per the library rules, if he/she fails to return the books within prescribed period of time. Members can see their overdue charges by logging into their ERP account.

What is the procedure for recommending books for purchase in the library?

Authorized users may recommend the purchase of books by completing the ‘Book Requisition Form’ available in the ‘Downloads’ section. The duly completed form must be submitted to the library either via email (library@psit.in) or in hard copy. All recommendations must be routed through and duly approved by the respective Head of Department prior to submission.
