Library Rules and Regulations

Sunday & Holiday 10:00 am – 02:00 pm
  • Library timings change as per schedule of university examination and the changes are displayed on notice board.
  • The library remains open every day of the year, except on national holidays and institute-announced holidays.

CIRCULATION (ISSUE & RETURN) RULES

For Macro A/C

  • Students – 6 Books, For 10 Days
  • Faculty – 6 Books, For 90 Days
  • Staff – 3 Books, For 90 Days

For Micro A/C

  • Books shall be issued at a time for same days only.
  • Maximum 6 books issued at a time either Macro &/or Micro A/C.
  • Library books are issued through the circulation counters upon presenting the ID card. The ID card is non-transferable, and the use of another person’s library card is considered a punishable offense. Entry of student without an ID card is restricted in the library.
  • Reference books, newspapers, magazines, journals, CDs and project reports will be made available for use in the library premises only.
  • Maiden (single) copy of any book will not be issued, the same can be consulted within the library.
  • A book returned by any student will not be re-issued on the same day.
  • The user is responsible for any book issued against his/her ID card as per the library records. The user must ensure that the book is in good condition before leaving the issue counter. No explanation will be accepted at a later stage.

LATE FEE

  • If a book is not returned in the stipulated time by student, then a penalty of ₹ @10/- per day per book will be charged.
  • Information regarding fines imposed will be displayed on the intranet, both on each student’s individual login and on the library’s collective login, by the end of the odd and even semesters of each session.
  • Students are required to contact the accounts department periodically to inquire about the penalty charges as per the norms and deposit the amount in the accounts department before the end of the semester.”
  • If a user loses or does not return a book issued against his/her account, the penalty will be as follows.
    • He /she will have to replace the book lost. In addition, he/she will have to pay an overdue fine. *(i.e. Maximum upto 2 (two) times of the book cost).
    • If the book is not easily available in the market than the user will have to pay 2 (two) times the cost of the book & he/she will also have to pay an overdue fine. *(i.e. Maximum upto 2 (two) times of the book cost).
  • If a borrower does not return the book in spite of two successive reminders his/her membership is liable to be cancelled without further notice.
  • Books must be returned immediately on the first working day after any holiday; otherwise, a fine will be charged for all the days the student retains the book after the due date.

USER ASSISTANCE

  • All members of the library team are available for any assistance you may need in using the library resources, facilities & services. You may also give suggestions regarding library, its resources, services & facilities. Suggestions on all aspects of library services are welcome.

PERSONAL BELONGINGS

  • While entering the library, users should leave their personal belongings, such as bags, personal books, etc. in the pigeonholes outside the library entrance at their own risk, under CCTV surveillance, to avoid loss, theft, or damage. Notebooks /registers are, however, allowed in the library reading section. Users leaving the library must permit the library staff to examine their belongings if asked.
  • The library is not responsible for lost or stolen any items.

GENERAL RULES

  • Users should maintain peace in the library & should not disturb other readers in the library. Smoking, eating, drinking, sleeping and talking or any other activities injurious to administrative or academic activities of the college are strictly prohibited in the library premises.
  • All users must come to the library in formal attire.
  • All students must sign in and sign out using biometric punching when entering and exiting the library.
  • Documents taken out of the shelves must be left on the table. Replacing the books on shelves is not encouraged as it may get misplaced. Misplaced book is like a lost book.
  • Users should not deface, mark, cut, underline, dog-ear, write on, tear pages, mutilate, or damage the reading material in any way. Those who do so are liable to be fined heavily, in addition to paying for the damaged item or replacing it. If a person repeats the offense a second time, their library membership will be terminated for a specified period. Reports may be made to the concerned authorities for a final decision.
  • No library material can be taken out of the library without permission. Unauthorized removal of anything belonging to the library will be treated as theft and dealt accordingly.
  • Anyone who violates the rules and regulations of the library would be liable to lose the privilege of library membership and may be debarred from using the library facilities.
  • Users themselves are responsible for the proper maintenance of library books or reading material. If they fail to do so, they will be fined in the form of a recently published new book or reading material.
  • If any user is caught stealing from the library, he/she will be fined heavily in addition to appropriate disciplinary action.
  • Use of Laptops, mobile phones, and Tabs is restricted to silent mode only. Online gaming, chatting, and videos (except lectures and academic talks) are strictly prohibited.
  • Absence from the institute will not be allowed as an excuse for the delay in the return of books.
  • Under special circumstances, the librarian may refuse the issue of books or recall the books already issued from any user without assigning any reason thereof.
  • Library services of a student member may be suspended for one month by the librarian, if he/she misbehaves with the library staff or purposely violates the library rules. Disciplinary action will also be taken for misbehavior & related activity.
  • All users of the library should get the no dues from the library before they leave the institute.
  • However, library timing and library rules may be changed without prior notice.
  • The library may accept donations of useful manuscripts, books, magazines, etc., in good condition from donors. Once accepted, such donations will become the property of the institution.

Note: The above rules are intended to regulate the use of library resources and will be reviewed periodically to meet the changing needs. Any changes in the rules or instructions or information to members will be notified on the library notice board as and when required.
